The original Speyside Distillery resided and flourished in Kingussie from 1895 until 1905 before being demolished in 1911. Construction of the present Speyside Distillery commenced in 1962 and was completed in 1987, the stills were fired into life just the right side of Christmas 1990. Speyside Distillery is a small malt whisky distillery equipped with just two stills and is situated near Drumguish and Kingussie and close to the River Tormie, a tributary of the River Spey, near Kingussie in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region.
This sherry butt matured dram has a nutty, gently peated style with fruity, citrus overtones. A little leathery note joins the mix. The palate is immediately alive with fruit and although medium in weight it has a pleasing persistance and becomes much nuttier at the finish.
